Lip & Skin Health

As the cooler months approach, it's essential to keep our skin healthy including our lips! Dry skin? No thank you! For many of us it's a reoccurring nuance during the cold winter months. Good news! There are plenty of ways we can start to protect our skin and lips right now before the true cold hits.

Eat for your skin

natural remedy for dry lipsThe best way to keep our skin glowing starts with an inside job. What we put into our bodies is incredibly important. Have you ever thought about how what you eat affects your skin? Eating with a lack of nutrition will show on the outside. Eating healthy will also show on the outside. This means incorporating lots of fruits and veggies! Not to overwhelm with too much info, let's stick to a handful of great foods for the skin.

Here is a list of foods that are great for your skin:

  1. Avocados
  2. Walnuts
  3. Broccoli
  4. Tomatoes
  5. Seeds (pumpkin and sunflower)
  6. Green Tea
  7. Fatty Fish

If you can add these foods to your week, you're on a fantastic start to helping your skin from the inside out. These foods will provide the body with the nutrients it needs to maintain and create healthy skin cells. To note, you will not notice changes in the first week, but overtime you will! It takes about 2 weeks for your new skin cells to travel to the top epidermal layer (visible to you). This means after eating healthier for about 2-4 weeks, you could start to see some changes for the better. So be patient!

Hydrate

man-1During the winter months, it's vital to drink lots of water. For me, it's hard to remember to drink enough mainly because I don't feel thirsty. We are also not sweating as much as we would be in warmer temperatures, but this is no excuses for a lack of hydration! To help, in the morning I fill a large glass full of water and I know I need to drink about 2 of these large jars per day to get in enough H20. Before I do anything in the mornings, I start drinking water, even if it's just a few sips. By filling the jar ahead, I find it easier to hold myself accountable and remember to drink enough.

After making healthy choices for our skin by the foods we eat and through adequate hydration, the next best thing we can do is use natural moisturizers, creams and skin care products.

Moisturize

7471- CBD Cream-1

In looking for a product specifically for our skin, you're going to want to find one with natural ingredients. Using daily will provide you with optimal results and bright, nourished skin.

This paraben-free, handcrafted Magnesium CBD Cream has 300mg of CBO and is mom approved! Osimagnesium ensures their products are produced cruelty and silicon-free with 100% natural ingredients.

When magnesium is applied directly to the skin, the body absorbs it into the epidermal layer, using for necessary processes. Often times, majority of individuals don't receive enough magnesium in the diet. Oid you know magnesium is critical for optimal skin health?

This cream is also made with a high dosage of CBO (Cannabidiol), shea butter and sweet almond oil. Together these ingredients work to nourish and hydrate the skin.

Additionally, not only is this product amazing for hydrating and nourishing our skin, customers are also loving it for better sleep, anxiety and period cramp relief and restless leg syndrome.

7495- CBD Cream with Melatonin-3For an even better night's sleep, Osimagnesium makes the same cream, but with added melatonin, the body's natural sleep hormone. In getting a good night's sleep, having the right amount of melatonin is essential.

Once you start using these two creams daily, you'll notice an amazing difference in your skin! I like to use the regular Magnesium CBO in the mornings and the melatonin one as I am getting ready for bed.

When keeping the skin moisturized, don't forget about the lips! Use moisturizer or balm with natural ingredients such as Plantain Salve which is one of the best ways to moisturize the lips. Among many other uses, this product is my go-to for winter! I always keep some in my purse and on my nightstand. With just 3 ingredients, plantain, olive oil, and beeswax, it makes for a safe and simple lip necessity for the whole family!

Use a humidifier

little-girlIf your home tends to run on the dry side, I recommend using a humidifier to add some moisture in the air. The added moisture in the house will prevent our skin from becoming too dry. While you can run one in the main areas of your home, you can also purchase small ones that sit nicely on a night stand for easier breathing at night Don’t hesitate to drop your favorite essential oil in it; try our Holiday Spice Essential Oil!

Protect yourself from extreme cold & wind

Some of us may live in or travel to very chilly climates during the winter months. While ski trips and outdoor fun is something I completely encourage, it's important to protect your skin when out. Windy and cold temperatures can leave the skin incredibly dry, red and irritated. Wear protective clothing- gloves, hats, scarves, warm coats and under layers. Apply chap stick to lips and lotion to hands and face before heading out. When you come in apply again for maximum protection of the skin.

Employing these useful tips now will allow you to be proactive in your skin 's winter needs for this upcoming season. Bye- bye dry skin and lips, a nuance of the past! Hello hydration!
