You can’t discuss essential oils without mentioning aromatherapy. Essential oils are a holistic method of healing that has been in existence since the Egyptian era, while most people have an idea of what essential oils are, very few know why and how to use them.

Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that are aimed to provide healing to the body through different aromatherapy techniques. The potency of these oils depends on how it was extracted, stored, and used, but where you buy the bottle also plays a crucial role too.

Why do you need to use essential oils?

A lot of disorders benefit hugely from the use of essential oils, and due to its versatility and long-term benefits, essential oils can be used in many areas of our lives.

  • It helps relieve joints, muscle and limb pain
  • It is added to lotion to restore dry, scaly skin, treat a skin infection, even tone and improve blood circulation and skin elasticity.
  • It helps with hemorrhoid, thrush, and cystitis
  • They are a subtle way to treat mouth odor, infected gums, mouth ulcers, and oral thrush.

How to use essential oils?

Luckily, all the techniques employed in aromatherapy can be used by you at home. However, because essential oils can be highly concentrated, volatile, and aromatic, they should be mixed with a base/carrier oil to soften the reaction time, but not the potency. The carrier oils are also plant-based and act as the vessel of transportation for the essential oil to where it is needed.

Massage

Massage and essential oils are great in exerting healing for anyone.  Have your partner gentle massage your lotion infused with essential oil(s) focusing on your feet (reflexology points) and your chakra energy centers for a profound experience.

Massaging your choice of essential oils with a magnesium and melatonin lotion mix and rubbing this onto your feet at night is truly relaxing and excellent for sleepy time.

Bathing or showering with essential oil

This stimulates and revives, relaxes or sedates the users depending on the oils been used. For example, rosemary and pine help with tired joints and aches while lavender and chamomile help with anxiety, stress, and too much worrying.

Adding essential oils to your bath water also induces better sleep pattern as it banishes tiredness and a wandering mind.

When one is feeling under the weather bathing in eucalyptus infused bathwater is invigorating and helps one recover from sinus pressures, tension and stress.  Add in magnesium flakes for an even deeper relaxation experience.

Inhalation

Although direct inhalation is not the most effective use of essential oils, steam inhalation, however, works magic. Steam inhalation provides relief for flu, colds, acne, oily face and breakouts.  Choose aromas like eucalyptus, peppermint or pine to encourage your sinus, Eustachian tubes and lymphs to naturally relax and open up, relieving pressure, tension and stress.

Inhalation should not be employed for people suffering from breathing problems like asthma.

In a pinch, take out your favorite essential oil, place a few drops in your hands and rub them together vigorously.  Place your hands hear your face, open them and breathe in deeply.  This is fast and effective. Click Here to shop our Aroma Diffuser!
